A unique, composite material made with Welsh Mountain wool - a natural, sustainable and beautiful fibre with bio-resin as the binder. The bio-content makes up 50% of the resin in our Solidwool Welsh Mountain composite. Solidwool material showcases the beauty of white Welsh Mountain fleece - a natural, light wool with white Kemp fibres. When combined with black Welsh Mountain fleece it creates a striking marbled effect throughout the composite.
It is a strong, unique and beautifully crafted material.

Solidwool material showcases the beauty of the Herdwick fleece - a natural dark grey fibre with lighter guard hairs, and when used in Solidwool creates a striking composite.

Sheet size and thickness
Solidwool sheet material is approx 600mm x 1200mm.
Standard thicknesses are 6mm and 10mm.

Batch variation
Made from 50% natural fibre, there can be some variation in the sheets from batch to batch. Like our furniture products, the finish of the Herdwick sheet material is very consistent from sheet to sheet. The Welsh Mountain has a greater degree of natural variation.
Can Solidwool withstand manufacturing processes?
Yes. Solidwool can be milled, drilled and cut using mechanical, laser and water jet. Solidwool can also be sanded and polished.
Can Solidwool be laminated?
Yes. Sheets can be laminated onto other materials such as wood to create table tops. Solidwool sheets can also be bonded together to create a thicker material.
Can Solidwool be etched?
Yes. Solidwool can be laser etched.
Can Solidwool be used outdoors?
Solidwool is recommended for use in indoor projects.
Can Solidwool be lacquered and polished?
Solidwool can be finished and polished to a gentle sheen. For a high gloss finish, a secondary polyurethane or acrylic clear-coat should be applied.
